EDUCATION:

Graduated with honors from the medical faculty of the 2nd MOLGMI named after N.I. Pirogov in 1985; from 1985-87 she studied in clinical residency in the specialty of "internal diseases", from 1987-1990 in full-time postgraduate study at the Department of Clinical Pharmacology of the 2nd MOLGMI named after N.I. Pirogov (now the RNRMU named after N.I. Pirogov) and in 1990 defended her candidate's dissertation "Pharmacological stabilization of erythrocyte membranes as a method for correcting platelet disorders in patients with ischemic heart disease" (scientific supervisor - Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yu.B. Belousov). In 1998, she defended her doctoral dissertation "Comparative effectiveness of modern antihypertensive drugs in patients with arterial hypertension" (scientific consultant - Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yu.B. Belousov).

AREA OF SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS:

  • clinical pharmacology of various pharmacological classes of drugs
  • clinical pharmacology and pharmacoepidemiology of antihypertensive drugs
  • clinical pharmacology of dosage forms with modified release
  • pharmacokinetic studies and bioequivalence studies of drugs
  • methodology of clinical and pharmacoeconomic studies, teaching issues
  • clinical pharmacogenetics
  • applied aspects of clinical and pharmacological technologies using therapeutic drug monitoring

Participated in a number of international clinical trials of antihypertensive drugs, studies on bioequivalence of drugs, studies of therapeutic drug monitoring of anticonvulsants in adults and children. She is the principal investigator and coordinator of the largest pharmacoepidemiological study in Russia PYTHAGORAS I (2001), II (2002), III (2009), IV (2013), the results of which were presented at national and international forums. She holds a patent for “A method for individual selection of therapy for arterial hypertension” (application no. 2011113334/14, 2011).

Has about 400 scientific publications, co-author of 18 monographs and manuals, 25 textbooks and methodological recommendations.

According to the Russian Science Citation Index, the Hirsch Index is 22 (ORCID, eLIBRARY SPIN).

PUBLIC ACTIVITIES:

Leonova M.V. from 2000 to 2015 was a freelance clinical pharmacologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for the Central Federal District, made a great contribution to the creation and development of the clinical pharmacology service in this region.

From 2000 to 2015, she was a co-director of the competition of young scientists in "clinical pharmacology" within the framework of the National Congress "Man and Medicine".

He is a member of the Interregional Public Organization "Association of Clinical Pharmacologists", a member of the Interregional Society for Pharmacoeconomic Research (ISPER) and the head of the Moscow branch of the society (from 2011 to the present), a member of the Dissertation Councils for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations at the Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University (from 1999 to 2018) and at the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University (from 2000 to the present) in the specialty 14.03.06 pharmacology, clinical pharmacology. He is a co-author and editor-in-chief of the National Guide to Clinical Pharmacology (2009); a member of the editorial board and co-author of the series of guidelines "Rational Pharmacotherapy"; a member of the experts of the "Federal Formulary for the Use of Medicines (formulary system") (2012-2017). He is a member of the editorial board of several medical journals: Pharmateka, Consilium Medicum, Pharmacogenetics and Pharmacogenomics, Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacoeconomics.
